of all the stuff one writes, most people prefers what one does not prefer. most of them prefer the shallow, the popular, the eye-grabbing stuff. but still one should continue writing cause given a wide enough audience, there must exist a small crowd that aligns with one's true beliefs and asthetics. and that small crowd's echo makes the entire effort worthwhile.
